Road Safety

Road Safety Week

This week we have been taking part in Road Safety Week. Pupils have been learning about how to stay safe when out and about, whether they are walking, cycling, or travelling in a car.

Classes have discussed the importance of wearing seatbelts, using crossings safely, and making sure they can be seen when it is dark. We have also explored how everyone can help make our roads safer by being careful, patient, and aware of others.

A few reminders for parents and carers:

  • Children must use a car seat until they are 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first.
  • Always make sure your child is in the correct car seat for their age, height, and weight.
  • Ensure seatbelts are securely fastened every journey, no matter how short.
  • Use child locks and keep car doors safely secured.
  • Encourage children to get out of the car on the pavement side whenever possible.
  • Avoid parking on zig-zag or yellow lines outside school – this helps keep everyone safe.

Thank you to everyone who has supported these important lessons and helped remind our pupils how to keep themselves and others safe on the roads
