Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Thatto Heath Community Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils, their families and our staff.

We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.

Many aspects of our support for mental health and wellbeing are built into our HEART curriculum.  For example during PSHE lessons pupils learn how to respect themselves and others, understand their feelings and emotions and how to make ‘healthy’ connections and relationships.  Growth mindset lessons help pupils to develop resilience and determination.

Occasionally, pupils may require more targeted support and this can be done in a variety of ways such as:

  • Group support or individual support with Mrs Walker or Mrs Williams.
  • Pupils in Y5 and Y6 can take advantage of our self-referral service to access quick support.
  • Each class has a daily well-being check in chart which class teachers can monitor to identify if support is needed
  • Referrals to external agencies if specialist support is needed
  • Parents can request support and advice via the form on our website at any time
