English As An Additional Language

Key Information Menu

English As An Additional Language (EAL)

There are now more than one million learners in UK schools who speak English as an additional language (EAL). This represents a considerable proportion of the school population.

Our EAL learners come from very diverse backgrounds. EAL learners also include those who were born and raised in the UK speaking a language other than English.

English as an Additional Language is a valuable asset to your child’s education and here at Thatto Heath Community Primary School we want to celebrate the rich diversity that different cultures bring to our community.

St Helens Council Outreach Support Service

The EAL service support individual pupils with English as an Additional Language and provide a consultation service to schools.
