Our Key Priorities for the Year Ahead
As we look ahead to another exciting year at Thatto Heath Community Primary School, we wanted to share some of our key improvement priorities. These focus areas are designed to ensure that every pupil thrives—especially those with additional needs—and that we continue to offer the very best in inclusive, ambitious education.
1. Improving Attendance – Especially for SEND and Disadvantaged Pupils
We are working hard to reduce the number of persistent absentees, particularly among pupils with SEND and those who are disadvantaged. Our aim is to bring attendance in line with or below the national average, ensuring every child has access to learning every day.
2. Therapeutic Approaches and Behaviour Support
We continue to embed our Therapeutic Schools approach, helping all pupils feel safe, respected and ready to learn. Staff are using consistent, high-impact routines to support behaviour and emotional regulation—especially for children with SEND or SEMH needs.
3. A Cohesive, Inclusive and Ambitious Curriculum for All
We are fully embedding a broad, balanced curriculum that enables all pupils to access, engage with and retain key knowledge.
- We are preparing for the rollout of the new National Curriculum across all year groups.
- For pupils with complex SEND, we are implementing our personalised HEART Pathways curriculum to ensure they receive a meaningful and tailored learning journey.
4. Autism in Schools Programme
We are completing our work on the Autism in Schools programme, ensuring that classroom environments, resources, and teaching strategies are autism-friendly. This includes embedding specialist approaches such as Attention Autism to support engagement and communication.
5. Developing Oracy Across the Curriculum
We are committed to ensuring every child finds their voice! Using Voice 21 strategies, we are embedding high-quality speaking and listening activities in all subjects to build confidence, vocabulary, and expressive language—especially for those with speech and language needs.6. Communication and Language in the Early Years
We are focusing on improving communication and language across our EYFS settings. By enhancing vocabulary, speaking and listening from the very start, we aim to boost the number of children achieving a Good Level of Development by the end of Reception.
