School Policies and Procedures
Below are some reminders regarding school policies and procedures to address a few issues that have arisen and to help us make a positive start to the new academic year in September.
Snack
Over the course of the year, we have seen an increase in the number of children bringing crisps, chocolate, and other non-permitted items into school for snack time. All schools are required to promote healthy snacks and adhere to a policy that includes permitted healthy options for snack time.
If you are intending to send in a snack for morning break with your child please limit them to the list below.
- Vegetables/ vegetable sticks – such as celery, cucumber, peppers or carrot.
- A piece of cheese (cheddar cheese or Babybel).
- A piece of fresh or dried fruit
- Bread sticks, plain pretzels, banana bread, malt loaf, oat/rice cakes and small pitta breads are also good snacks.
- Yoghurt
Our policy is a common-sense approach, with the key being to keep it healthy and no chocolate, sweets, cereal bars or crisps during breaktime. If your child does bring in these items they will instead be provided with a piece of fruit as an alternative.
Water Bottles
We need the children to stay hydrated, so please ensure they bring a water bottle to school daily. Recently, a number of very large water bottles have been brought into school. These do not fit in our water fountains, and they are too large to fit on the children’s desks and in the baskets where classes store the bottles.
From September, please ensure that only standard-sized bottles are sent into school. Please see the image.
Squash and fruit juice are not permitted except at lunchtime (in their lunch boxes). Children bringing in juice will be offered water as an alternative. The only exceptions are for pupils who have a medical care plan stating juice is required.
PE Kits
Thank you to all the parents who have ensured that their child has been wearing their school PE kits. However, a growing number of families are treating PE days as non-uniform days. From September, if your child comes to school in their own clothes on a PE day instead of their plain, non-branded team PE top and navy tracksuit, navy/black leggings, or black shorts, you will be contacted to bring their kit to school so they can change. Adhering to the uniform policy is part of the home-school agreement which was signed when your child started school.
We understand that the cost of uniforms can be a financial burden for families. Our pastoral team can support with uniforms, including PE kits. If you would like assistance from our team, please contact Mrs. Anders or Mrs. Lomax in confidence.
No Earrings Reminder
Just a reminder that our school has a no earrings policy, which includes studs. Plasters cannot be worn over the earrings.
