Curriculum Spotlight: History

History is a subject widely enjoyed by our pupils, and we are proud to have a Gold Quality Mark for our history curriculum and teaching. Led by Mrs Garner and Miss Brownbill, we strive to make history engaging and meaningful for all our pupils.

We enrich our history curriculum through the celebration of key historical figures and national events. Our workshops, such as Roman Gladiator sessions and Stone Age activities, offer hands-on learning that sparks interest and curiosity.

We have strong links with local university history departments, which help deepen the pupils’ understanding of history. Additionally, our membership with the Historical Association keeps us updated with best practices and resources for teaching history.

Our pupils also benefit from a wide selection of historical-themed books, including the ever-popular Horrible Histories series, which they love.

We also celebrate local history and encourage past pupils to get in touch if they have any historical connections to the school or if they can contribute photographs of school events or memories. These items are a valuable part of our historical archive.
