Curriculum Spotlight: Computing

This week, our Subject Spotlight is on Computing, and we are thrilled to highlight the great work being done at Thatto Heath Community Primary School. Our Computing Leader, Mrs. Evan, supported by our dedicated full-time Network Manager, Mr. McFarlane.

We are lucky to have cutting-edge technology available to our pupils, including Class VR headsets and our very own podcasting suite. Various year groups have been creating and recording their own podcasts, which are shared on our Spotify account, where you can listen to the weekly news, teacher spotlight interviews, and special new features.

This term, we have been expanding our use of Chromakey technology, also known as green screen, which is bringing exciting opportunities to our classrooms.

E-Safety remains a big focus of our Computing curriculum, and we take part in national events such as Safer Internet Day. We also ensure our pupils are well-versed in online safety, offering guidance and resources through the National College for parents. 

A key aspect of our work is reinforcing safe technology usage, from adhering to age restrictions on apps to teaching pupils how to report any online issues.
